Alpha blockers, antihypertensives, diuretics used as antihypertensives, guanadrel, guanethidine, nitrates, rauwolfia alkaloids: Decreased pressor response (hypotension). Moni-tor child closely.
Cardiac glycosides, epinephrine, general anesthetics (cyclopropane, halothane), guanadrel, guanethidine, levodopa, MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, other sympathomimetics: Increased risk of arrhythmias, including tachycar-dia. Monitor child closely; dont use with MAO inhibitors.
Cycloplegic antimuscarinics (such as atropine): Increased mydriatic response to phenylephrine. Use together cautiously.
Doxapram, ergot alkaloids, MAO inhibitors, mazin-dol, methyldopa, oxytocics: Potentiated pressor effects. Monitor child closely; dont use with ~ MAO inhibitors.
Levodopa: Decreased mydriatic response to phenylephrine. Use together cautiously.
Nitrates:Reduced antianginal effects. Evaluate response to therapy.
Thyroid hormones: Increased effects of either drug. Monitor child closely. |
